Case Example: District Literacy Audit
Client: The superintendent of a small school district requested an evaluation of literacy instructional practices in six schools. She asked for recommendations about which practices to retain and which needed improvement. SchoolRise was asked to provide a district-wide summary report as well as reports for the individual schools.
Approach: SchoolRise developed two new evaluation tools for the project. A team of three evaluators administered surveys, observed in classrooms, conducted teacher interviews, moderated parent focus groups, and shadowed instructional leaders and paraprofessionals. Evidence was collected over the course of one week.
Outcome: SchoolRise provided customized recommendations for each of the six schools and a district-wide summary report indicating the instructional practices to be retained or in need of development.
