Results in Chicago schools

Research Association Yearbook, 2010
- Sample cohort results from two Chicago schools, Saylor and Denver (pseudonyms)
- Achievement as shown on the Illinois state reading assessment
- K-8 schools with populations representative of the district, i.e., about 90% low-income students
- At Saylor the percentage of students meeting or exceeding expectations rose from about 60% at grade 5 to nearly 86% at grade 8.
- Comparable results were seen at Denver.
Results in Hawaii schools
Based on results (pdf) reported by the Hawaii State Department of Education, August 2010
- All but one of the elementary schools served by SchoolRise during 2009-10 made adequate yearly progress (AYP) in the target subject area.
From an article by Kathryn Au, published in the Journal of Literacy Research (2005)
- A hierarchical linear modeling analysis was conducted of Hawaii state reading test results for the cohort of students who took the grade 3 test in spring 2002 and the grade 5 test in spring 2004.
- The
SBC Process had a small positive effect on grade 5 state reading
test scores in high-poverty elementary schools.
